Hypnotherapy for fears & phobias

Phobias are extreme fears. They're irrational and you don’t feel the slightest in control of the feeling of panic and dread that takes hold of you when confronted with or even imagining the situation or object of your phobia.

Needless to say, this can be debilitating and dent your self-confidence. You may make elaborate plans to avoid your fear, wasting precious time and energy, and getting annoyed with yourself in the process. Your rational mind knows that this is ridiculous but you can’t seem to help yourself. And of course, the more you avoid the object of your fear, the more you reinforce its strength in your mind.

The fear often starts when you anticipate what's going to happen. Whatever it is that you are frightened of hasn’t happened yet, but your mind is already imagining, your body tenses, your heart races, you may start sweating and feel faint and nauseous. The mind is a very powerful tool, everything you imagine feels real to it, this is the why you react so strongly and this is exactly why hypnosis can help you out of this trap.

How Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy can stop your fears and phobias

CB hypnotherapy can help you free yourself from your fear or phobia, the treatment used is effective and has been used for many years to cure people.

We work together installing coping mechanisms of intense mental and physical relaxation and then use a treatment called hypnotic desensitization.

Within the safe and understanding context of the therapy session and in hypnosis, you gradually face and overcome your fear while remaining intensely relaxed. Your mind cannot deal with feeling very relaxed, dreamy, safe and comfortable and at the same time scared. It gradually lets go of fear and you replace it with a more daring, curious or even 'can't be bothered to be worried about this anymore' attitude.

It's always very rewarding to see people leave their burden of fear behind and hear of how they then saw or experienced what they used to be afraid of with absolute confidence.

Just imagine what life could be like without that phobia!

I was initially skeptical ... But Morag was amazing! She quickly put me at ease, listened carefully to my problems, asked intelligent questions & gently but firmly pushed me to think more logically about my fears. The practise recordings in between sessions – the homework – were great! Not only have I now overcome my phobia, but I’m sleeping much better & I feel generally more relaxed & confident.
